Terms & safety

1. Using bye.kim

By creating an account or using bye.kim, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services where you live if that age is higher. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials private and for activity on your account.

2. Your posts

You keep ownership of the content you create. You give the service operator permission to host, store, display, and technically process your posts only as needed to run and maintain this service. Do not post material you do not have the right to share, or private information about another person without their permission.

3. Community rules & abuse prevention

Do not use bye.kim to threaten, harass, stalk, exploit, or target people; promote hateful violence; share sexual content involving minors; publish someone’s sensitive personal information; send spam or scams; impersonate others; distribute malicious software; or break the law. Do not evade blocks, rate limits, or moderation measures.

You can report a post using its menu and block an account to hide their posts and prevent unwanted interaction. Reports are stored so the operator can review potential rule violations. The operator may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts when needed to protect people or the service. Reporting tools in this starter project do not guarantee that a moderator is actively monitoring or will respond.

4. Acceptable use

Do not probe or disrupt the service, attempt to access another person’s account or data, bypass security controls, automate abusive activity, or overload the site. Automated rate limits and request-size limits are in place to reduce spam and service abuse.

If you use a personal API key, you are responsible for safeguarding it and for activity performed with it. Use only the permission level you need, do not publish the key or embed it in client-side code, and revoke it promptly if it may have been exposed. Do not use API access to spam, scrape at scale, evade restrictions, or access data you could not access through your account. API requests remain subject to the same account restrictions, blocks, community rules, and rate limits as website activity.

The API currently supports limited post reading, publishing, editing, and replies. It does not authorize access to administrator functions or another user’s private account data. API paths and features may change, and no uptime, compatibility, or third-party developer support commitment is made.

5. Privacy and data

Account details, password hashes, posts, interactions, reports, and session records are stored in the service’s SQLite database. If you choose Google sign-in, the service receives and stores your Google account subject identifier, verified email address, and display name; Google access and refresh tokens are not retained. Passwords are not stored in plain text. The service operator is responsible for access controls, backups, retention, deletion requests, and any privacy disclosures required by applicable law. Do not use this starter deployment for sensitive personal information.

Images you upload and their alt text, poll options and votes, and the links you post are stored or displayed as part of your posts. Links to external sites open through a bye.kim interstitial. Read the Privacy policy for more detail about messages, Reels, images, service providers, and account deletion.

6. Accounts, content, and enforcement

You may update or delete your account using the available account controls. Deleting an account removes associated live database records and uploaded media through the account-deletion flow. Copies in backups, infrastructure logs, or records the operator must retain may remain according to the operator’s retention practices and applicable law. The operator may restrict or remove content or accounts to enforce these terms, protect users, comply with law, or maintain the service.

You are responsible for the content you submit, including posts created by an authorized API key. Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringes another person’s rights, or exposes another person’s confidential or sensitive information without authorization.

7. Availability and changes

This service is provided on an “as available” basis without a promise of uninterrupted access. Features or these terms may change; continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms. The operator may suspend or discontinue the service.

8. No warranty and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing here excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited in your location.

9. Contact and legal rights

Before public launch, the service operator should replace this section with a monitored contact address and identify the applicable legal entity and jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived in your location.
